A Montreal transplant from Toronto of the Old Guard, Gern f. was raised in, steeped in and eventually learned to hate country music (one too many field parties). Ex-Trucker, ex-factory worker, ex-field hand, ex-carpenter, ex-dish pig and eventually ex-bartender, he has been abusing the Montreal music scene for eight years with such goings on as Happy Gern f.?s Happy Saturday Happy Hour at Brutopia, Gern f. and the Gear Pigs (CD?s available in a closet near you) and as one of the founders of the Congragates which morphed into the United Steel Workers of Montreal. An inveterate banterer and teller of tales he swears are not tall, Gern has been accused of having a voice pitched somewhere between a sober Shane MacGowan and a completely unhinged Springsteen. Proud of his achievements, Gern f. placed 32nd in Montreal?s Cool Hair Do Competition for his first year running and continues, with The United Steelworkers of Montreal, to bring good Alternative Country to the world, if not just South West Montreal.
