Born into a blue collar world and raised Laval Catholic alongside nine brothers and sisters all named Shawn, Shawn ?Gus? Beauchamp earned his nickname from his daddy - who wanted to simplify things. The 1990?s, though a decisive time for Gus, have gone strangely undocumented by the media; after fronting several successful punk bands he stunned his family, if not the entire nation, when he turned his musical focus to bluegrass as co-anchor of Moonshiners Monday - a Montreal tradition spanning two seasons. His speed at the chords and striking vocals have brought the high and the low to The United Steel Workers of Montreal in the form of pig harmonies and bottom-end back beat. Despite being handicapped as the odds-on favorite, he was a no-show at the Great Pomp-Off of 2018. |
